Sample/Skein Dyeing Services is a company that was built by customer demand. In 1990, Tommy Alexander founded Sample Dyeing Services.  The sample business is very demanding. Customers expect only perfect matches and nothing less than miraculous turn around times.  This is not unreasonable, it is just the norm for samples. Mr. Alexander's unrelenting commitment to excellence allowed him to meet and often exceed the expectations of his customers.

Customer loyalty and word of mouth advertising caused the company to grow by leaps and bounds. Mr. Alexander soon found himself having to add new machinery and new employees in order to keep up with the demands of his customers. The driving force behind this expansion was the knowledge that making his customers' business grow would make his own business grow.



His customers wanted a dyehouse that could dye their production size lots as well and as quickly as Mr. Alexander could dye their samples. When they found that the existing dyers were either incapable or unwilling to do this, they turned to Mr. Alexander. In 1992 he bought a full production facility.



This dyehouse had all his sample equipment as well as reels, winders and a range of dye becks capable of dyeing up to 3000 pound lots. The size and scope of his business had changed, but his commitment to his customers had not. He expected, and got, this same customer commitment from his employees. Again, this commitment caused expansion.



He began furnishing yarn as well as dyeing yarn for his customers. Conditions became crowded, and in 1994 he bought a building next door to his operation. The reeling and winding departments were moved to this building. The two buildings, one with dyeing and drying, and the other with reeling and winding comprise the present company. Mr. Alexander deeply appreciates the continued loyalty of his customers and works just as hard as ever to "help his customers grow."
